decodeing differential

hello again, i have supposedly have a 1975 10 bolt rear end from a gmc sprint that i want to build as a 3.73 posi. can any one tell help me with decodeing the casting numbers? i found three one on the pinion: 1234771 one on the cover: 1234496 and one on the ring:1234668. <im not sure if that last number was a 8 or 6. is there any other numbers i could find.? thanks

ok, i found some more numbers on one of the axle tubes. the number was: 6 ac b115 1. can someone please help me

you may try www.chevelles.com i decoded my rear on there, or just try to google it

It should have left the factory with 3.08 gears.
The code number you gave breaks down to:
3.08 gears.
Assembled at the Buick plant, on April 25th, on first shift.

It should also be the "corporate" 10-bolt with a 8.5 inch ring gear.

thanks m&m. this rear end doesnt have the c-clips, do you know if there are posi units available for these rear ends?
