Info for you

The best source for that info is www.lovefords.org when asking supply them with the top and bottom codes in your VIN tag also what model Ford you have. From 1949-56 Ford sedans had one style and Station wagons were another completely different style, someone may have swapped rears because the numbers you posted show it as a 8" Maverick rear with 2.79 gears.I moderate the 1952-56 Ford social group on the HAMB and the Maverick rear swap is common on early Fords for two reasons,#1 it is slightly narrower which helps when doing a wheel upgrade or going to a more modern wider tire as these Fords have very shallow wheel wells.#2 is the ratio selection with the 8" is much better back in the 50's we had lower speed limits and stock ratios for example a 6 cyl w/Overdrive had 4:10's with standard trans it was 3:90 as was the 8 cyl with Overdrive with todays higher cruising speeds that really will kill fuel mileage and really wind up the old motors.Posting a picture of the rear driveshaft yoke will really be the telltale.
