Degree'n a cam parts

Hello..
So I have the comp cams degree kit, used it many times, with flat tappet cams, easy just bought a single solid lifter and good to go..
well this engine that I'll be stab'n a cam in is a g.m. hyd roller..
as we all know roller lifters tend to be costly, so..
could one, get a used roller and tac the lifter pushrod seat to the outer body and use that as the solid lifter..
or would it be better to take the hyd lifter apart and lock the plunger somehow???
I'm thinking a few zaps with the mig. would do it..
ofcource I'll need a lifter thats not trashed,,
sound like a plan, or sound more like fail..

With the heads off, I use a mag base/dial indicator mounted on the deck with a rod mounted on the rim of the lifter I will be using.

In your case, some checking springs should work or you could disassemble a spare lifter and modify it to make it solid.
