Demand For Hot Rods

i was noticing with todays sky rocketing gas prices, attendence at classic/ and hot rod shows keeps going up. Each year shows are growing and expanding. This would seem a bit contradictory,
v8 Hotrod+high gas prices=Less v8 hotrods.

maybe i am wrong, and its just around where i live that i keep seeing increase in the number of hot rods and restored cars.

What would you guys say demand for hot rods is right now? High, low?

By demand I mean, wanting to own one, weither you buy one or build one.

in my area it seems the cruise ins are filled most weeks. but there are alot of cars forsale at the events. the car shows how ever it seems like alot fewer cars turning out for most of the events. i still see lots of project cars every where i go and lots of people at the big parts swap meets. so i don't think prices have completely killed the car hobby but might have slowed it down a bit.

Its not just hot rods and other cars... high gas prices affect everything that we buy...grocerys are higher etc. Really if you take a close look..everything is slowing down just a little...hobbies, hunting, fishing, etc, etc.

Hot rods for the most parts are not driven every day so if it gets 3 mile to the gallon who cares. I always wondered how my blown elcamino is wasting so much fuel and causing so much polution when I havent started it in a month...I havent had time. You will continue to see more and more of hot rods because it is one of the last ways to express individuality in the world we live(of course that freedom will get taken away too sooner or later if we let it happen).

I don't think you will ever see a trend of rods with small ricer motors and such ..that just ain't right. JMO Tim

I haven't noticed any change here - - - there was a record number at "Lucky's Rod Run" which is the first one of the year down here - - - no trophys or fees or anything else - - - just lots of cars, tire kicking and swapping lies and a record turnout. However, the entire "WORLD" revolves around the Petroleum Industry - - - like it or not
