detent pressure spring ?

Just a quick question. I did a search with no avail.

When I rebuild my TH350 the detent pressure spring was busted, it was orange in color. So I replaced it with the one in the old 350C which was yellow and seemed to be quite a bit stiffer.

What difference would this make if any? The trans is working great so far, I was just curious as to what this change would do.

Thanks

If it works , must be OK.

I am curious on how you discovered it was broken? Were you installing a valve body recalibration kit?

Thanks Crosley,

When I rebuilt the trans I disassembled the valve-body to clean it. It may have snapped when I removed it as it hung up on the retaining pin. But either way it was rather flimsy compared to the one out of the 350C.

the heavier spring will regulate higher detent regulator valve pressure, which will let you get detent 3-1 and 3-2 at higher speeds.
