detroit 671 blower

I got a detroit diesel blower to tinker with the other day. I can not figure out how to get the rotors out of the case. They seem to be pressed into the end plates. Is there a good way to do this without damaging anything?

I had a 4-71 Detroit blower awhile back, same as yours I believe...just shorter and less bolt hold downs. Anyways, it took me forever to get the thing apart. Their is two covers on each side that I removed, then their is two end plates holding in the rotors which I removed those bolts(I think they were just 2 screw driver type bolts) and had to use pry bars, wedges, and screw drivers to remove one end plate(careful I nicked up the case some doing this, but I couldn't figure any other way), it took awhile to get it off...the rotors were pressed into bearings through the endplate, had to pry one side move it a tiny bit then go to the other side and move that up a little, then back to the other side etc. (moving the endplate up caused the pressed on bearings to slide up off the rotors) Once I got it off the bearings were free and both rotors and the other end plate slide out of the casing. From their I could not figure out how to get the rotors of the second endplate without damaging anything. I had fun with it but didn't have enough money to use it. so I sold it. Hope this helps, kinda hard to understand how I said it (I think)

Yeah that does help! I was pretty much going to do that but I was worried something was going to break. I am just looking to have a lil fun with this thing anyway. I'm going to go for it! Thanks Warrant!
