diagnostic codes

i pulled the codes out of my computer and got 23 manfold air temp (MAT) indicatin low temp what does that mean?

Is the sensor itself bad? Or possibly a connection or the wiring?

It means you read the code wrong or had the wrong VIN number(s) plugged in when connecting the scanner.

88' TBI with a Manifold Air Temp Sensor? Better check again. TBI systems for those year trucks did not include a MAT sensor. Try to buy one at the parts store and see what part no. comes up.

An '88 doesn't need a scanner... just jumper pins A & B on the ALDL connector with a paper clip and count the blinks on the Check Engine light (I've got an '89 GMC). Code 12 will blink 3 times and then any stored codes will blink. Code 23 is a Throttle Position Sensor failure.

sorry i wasn't specific the motor is from a 1992 chevy caprice cop car and im also using the cars computer on the truck too
