Did a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 XL come with a locking rear-end?

I was wondering if a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 XL with a 390 came with a locking rearend?
Please help because I wanna know before I buy this car.

Most did not.........

It should have a tag on the rear end........




It should have a " L " in the code...........like the above tag. The tag will also tell you the gear ratio.......

All of this IF the tag is there or has not been tampered with.........

Check the code on the drivers door. if the axle is a number, it is open. if it is a letter, than it is a posi unit. That is if someone hasn't changed it.

If the tags are gone you can jack the back up and spin a tire. If both spin the same direction it is a locker.
