Did know where to ask this Gm platform questions.

Hello,

Can anyone confirm that the vista cruiser is part of the A body platform? I've been searching the net and I know it's based on the cutlass frame but in nothing I've actually found does it say the crusier shares the same brakes parts. I'm more conceraned about the 73-77 body style.

thanks
Mike Hateful

Try classic oldsmobile. I would think yes and I would pull brake parts off ONE side and take them to the parts store and compare them to the Cutlass.

Yes, it is an A-body. Same suspension, same architecture, same sheetmetal from the firewall forward, same dash, etc, etc...

Thanks Joe, I hoped you would chime in. You are always a wealth of knowledge. I tried to help but wasn't 100% sure.

Thanks Joe, thanks olds455. Going to pick up the rear today. see you all later.

I'm not sure about the 73-77 cars, but the 64-72 Vista used bigger rear brakes than the rest of the A-body line. Normal rears were 9" x 2", Vistas (and Buick Sport Wagons) used 9" x 2.5". Of course, in those years the VC and Sport Wagon used a 5" longer wheelbase than the flattop wagons. Since ALL the 73-77 wagons were flattops, I don't believe that there is any wheelbase or weight difference. The 73-77 A-bodies could have used 9" x 2" rear drums or 11" x 2" rear drums.

Hey Joe I went out and got a rear today from a 1965 cutlass, I have taken the cover off yet to look inside but it has a limited slip tag on it and was told it was a good rear, I paid 150 for it it came with brakes but they seem locked up. you think this was a good deal?
