diesel leak from injection pump or lines
I have a '91 F350 7.3L with a Banks turbo. Original mileage is approx. 105K, turbo was put on by Banks about 20K mi. ago. I've recently noticed a fuel leak that's causing the bottom of the injector pump and the "pan" below it to be wet with fuel. At first I thought it was coming from the juncture where the front of the pump mates to the adapter housing. However, after reading KULTULZ reply (Sep. 2002) to a question from snowman re: a similar problem apparently caused by leaking (loose) fittings on the bottom injector pump lines, I wonder if this may be my problem also. The truck still runs fine, although it's become a bit harder to start in the AM. One mechanic told me the pump needed to be replaced. Do these symptoms sound like a pump in need of replacement or simply some loose fittings? Thanx for your replies.

re: diesel leak from injection pump or lines
Do you happen to have any pictures of the area wetted with fuel?
Sorry it's just hard to go by a discription over the internet. A picture seems to speak 1000 words. Henry |

re: diesel leak from injection pump or lines
Very possible for it to be leaking there. There are 9 lines there. you should be able to see it drip with the aid of a small mirror. Anytime there is a leak it can cause starting problems. Diesles don't like air in the fuel system.
