Diff and gear box ratio :S

Hey
I heard that you have to have ratio between diff and gearbox right or something. Can someone elaborate on this?
Thanks
Troy

gearing

The diff ratios are how many times the drive shaft turns (the pinion) to the amount of times the rear wheels turn (the ring gear). For example 4.11 gears. The driveshaft rotates 4.11 times every time the tires rotate once.

Each gear in the tranny has a ratio between the amount of times the motor spins (rpm) to the amount of times the end shaft of the tranny spins (driveshaft). TH 350s are 1 to 1 in drive.

You also take tire heighth into consideration. The taller the tire, the greater the circumference. The more distance traveled in one revolution.
