Yeah, other than the different track width, different lug bolt pattern, different brakes, different spring perch spacing, different shock mounts, and different pinion flange, it's a bolt-in.

What do you want to spend? Here's the 2002 cost breakdown on putting a (narrowed by 2") Ranger 8.8" rear in my S-10, very similar to you project and a lot cheaper than a 12 bolt or 9". All critical work was done by either Pyle Bros. or Moser.
  • Used 8.8" 3.73 locker @ $400.00
  • Freight @ $85.00
  • Narrow left axle tube @ $125.00
  • New spring perches (+ welds) @ $65.00
  • Pair new brake drums @ $81.00
  • Shipping to Moser @ $28.00
  • Redrill stock RH axle and new drums @ $45.00
  • New Moser RH axle (for LH tube) @ $115.00
  • New studs @ $15.00
  • Shipping back @ $35.00
  • Total = $994.00

HTH,

Russ

why would you want to get rid of the stock axle in an "RS/SS" Camaro?

Does anyone know a machine shop in the atlanta area that can drill my 8.8 ford axles & rotors to a 5 x 4.75 bolt pattern.
