difference between vortec and regular stock heads

I am curious. What is the difference between regular chevy heads and the vortec heads? I see alot of people say run the vortec heads. I was just wandering what makes them any better.

Heart shape chamber design (basicly fast burn) works real good with very moderate cams (.500 lift and lower)... Nice large intake runner which is also more flat on the bottom and is about 3/16ths taller port

Just newer tech...

Vortec heads have 170cc intake ports that are far better in design than the older heads so they flow better. They also have 64cc heart shaped combustion chambers that are more efficient than the classic bath tub shape. When used with a tight quench distance they require less spark advance to make more power which results in less negative energy. the one downfall of them is there light casted, if you run them hot they crack. RHS has a Vortec head modeled after the 906 casting vortec head, they`re heavy weight and flow slightly better than the factory castings do at a real reasonable price.
