Dig the grooviness of this front speaker redo

click on my journal. this was just too stinkin easy. i spoze getting to the bastahd is the hard part for most of us, but for this 72 camaro it was a snap. Even a one-eyed idiot could do it!
took like 3 hours, including driving to Best Buy to buy the speakers. okay, maybe 4 hrs.

Neat trick! Amazingly, I just two days ago replaced my old, tired 40W HiTech 4" speakers in the front of my Willys with those exact same 100W Pioneer units!

they were $45 at Best Buy!! -on sale- (great minds think alike, if i can flatter myself, 36)

it wasnt really that easy. it was for me cause i had all the carpet/seats/console/shifter/glove box already out. i edited my journal to that effect. for a 100W speaker it always kills me they supply you with like 18ga wire!!! oh well, i had them playing last night for a minute. commercials sound good. today MAYBE i'll finally get those speaker wires taped down and get my carpet in. jeeze, this has been taking a week!

I always run at least 14ga wires to my speakers. I'm with you - how are you supposed to squeeze 100W down a wire the size of a human hair!?! I also replaced my rear 4x6 Audiovox that had totally stopped working with a compatible set of Pioneers and the sound is excellent. My radio even picks up stations it couldn't before with the cheap speakers and I can't overdrive these like I could my old ones. I guess good speakers are worth the money, huh?

Cool deal you retrofitted those speakers.....and it still looks stock.

But, I would say that the 18awg wire that came with them is more then plenty for them, especially if it's only going to be HU power, which is usually no more then 7-12 watts rms, 18 or 26 tops if you got a Alpine HU.

Just went through your journal, that was a great idea on the speakers, your journal is great I have been trying to look at everyones, will take time. I only found one thing wrong with yours and I hate to complain or say anything and have thought about it for a while and thought you needed to know. Who ever is taking the pictures is great but there is some old guy in them that looks like he might be stealing something out of your car and I would eradicate him if I was you!!!!!!
