Lightbulb digital guages for 65 elkie

lookin for digital guages that dont cost a fortune. want to replace autometer guages to digital. need strip style to fit above c/d player 2" wide by 5" long. summitt has em for $400.00. what a rip. $10.00 in parts. anyone make their own from a kit? adding vintage air a/c so i have no room under dash for old guages. any help will be rewarded in hot rod heaven. thanks. ronf702@aol.com :

$400 is pretty reasonable when you consider what is involved in making your own, there is a heck of lot more than $10 in parts...never mind the labour. You still have to make your own circuit boards and then fit it into a reasonably sized housing, that's a lot of work. Considering you get a warranty and a tested assembly, that price is a bargain if you ask me.

HEY EK: I purchased the five digital gauge panel from Sumitt Racing. It is now manufactured by Nordskog Performance and it has a LIFE TIME warranty. I had problems with speedometer and they sent me a whole new board. I just pulled it out again tonight because of Fuel gauge problems but they will fix or replace it at NO CHARGE. I have looked at other digitals and they don 't have life time warranty....just my expirence... DAVE

hey all thanks for the input. digital guages are indeed expensive. however we are not talkin rockets to the moon here. i still think $ 400.00 for these guages are way over priced. im sure that some japaneese or asian co. can make em cheaper.
as far as life time warrantys are concerned; BFD.
your car is down while they send u a new board/fix what was broken. not much when u consider the hassel of r/r the new guages. someone out there has the knowledge to build a better cheaper set of guages. maybe an old elect. head who built radios out of kits as a kid can help. anyone want to start a joint venture for digital guages??
again thanks for the help guys.
