just finished a long rebuild on and engine and trans i did not have a dip stick for the trans so i went to the zone picked up a 350 trans crome dipstick and tube and i have had no luck getting it to go into the trans itried with it out with a little trans fluid on the o ring and it tore it up i tried to put it in the car from the top with trans fluid on th o-ring and it still tore all up does any one have any ideas before i tose this thing in the road and drive over it with my truck oh in case if you are wondering i did take out the original rubber push i grommet from the facory syle tube i would like some help on this matter thanks

This job is definetly a two person operation, get some help inserting it. One from above and one below, you could also try a smaller diameter O-ring if your still having trouble.

Jason is correct.
The dipstick tube stamping is not correct. Most likely the O-ring groove is too small for the O-ring needed and the O-ring is also binding in the bore. You might get lucky by sanding the chrome off the portion that goes into the case, silicone the area around the O-ring groove (no O-ring) and install. Do not add any trans fluid until the silicone has hardened or you will get a severe leak. Good luck. |

dipstick problems with 350 trans
is the tube going in at the right angle i just went threw it with a corvette went threw a few before i could get one to go in
