Disconnecting instuments in 1937 Buick
Iím trying to remove the í37 Instrument cluster from my 37 Buick without damaging it.
1) Can someone tell me how disconnect the water temp cable from the instrument cluster?
2) The oil pressure line is also not obvious on how it is unhooked. It looks like a hex nut but did not readily turn and I do not want to damage the instruments. Is this a hex nut that crimps down on a flared tube?
The oil pressure is nothing more than a flare nut, so it will screw out of the gague, be sure to hold the square nut made to the gague with a wrench while backing the flare nut off. Since the tube is aleady broken, I would cut it off and use a 6 pint socket on the flare nut, that way it shoundn't round off. Can't help with the temp, I know on my old Chevy, the temp line would not disconnect at the gague only at the engine.

Others confirmed that the temp sensor on the Buick also has to be disconnected at the engine. So far it's stuck, but I'll give it another try tonight.
