disk brakes too hot
Well we just got back from our first 5 mile shake down ride- it is shifting much better and goes to 175-180 and stays there- the oil pressure is great- THS disk brakes are HOT- the rims are hot to the touch- the car stops good and straight- no pulling and we can smell the brakes just a little. the calipers are really close to the rims could this be why they are hot? I jacked up the car and put it in neutral and the rear tires are tight- pretty tight- could this be just new brakes? or maybe a bad M/C?- fun ride though

Is it the master that originally had drum brakes, if so it probably has a residual valve built in and could be keeping the calipers partially engaged and causing the heat.You can pull the wheels and crack the bleeder valve and see if the pressure releases.
There are other things as well like internally collapsed hoses, master cylinder rod adjusted a little to long.
Are the fronts ok?
You will ruin the pads and rotors if you keep overheating them.

this is a dual bowl M/C for dual disk brakes-I am gonna wait till they cool down and take a look thanks-

You still need to check. Would not be the first time the wrong part was in the box

i had the same problem on my first trip. come to find out that the brake pedal was depressed an 1/8''. enough to cause drag. check everything out. good luck.

Ok I just got back in- now the wheels have cooled off- they spin just like normal -any ideas?????

You really need a temp gun. I tend to not worry below 200. Usually the ones I see as an issue hit 300 in a short distance. Yours could be as simple as needing a break-in.

Take it on short drive, put it in neutral at about 2 mph on flat ground. If you can't feel it when it stops rolling, no problem with drag. If you can actually "feel" the stop, you have some drag that needs to be checked.
