hi guys i have a pertronix billet distributor for a smc. Is there by any chance somthing internally in the distributor that could be malfunctioning like the weights or somthing else. this is the problem im having ill start the car it will idle beautiful at about 975 a 1000 ill drive it around the block when gets to about operating temp and all of the sudden the idle starts to drop and bounce around. im jus curious if there could be somthing goin on with distributor at idle. it has the ignitor ll and ive heard if thats bad its bad and car will not run period. im guessing thats not my case. but is it a possibility the weights are malfuntioning? i checked cap and rotor and seems to look ok.
your right...if u have a bad module it won't run.. at idle ur wt's should be closed up.. they may be sticking but thats really easy to ck.. pull the rotor and flip them out an see how they return. but i'd be look'n at the carb.. u may need a spacer to keep the heat off the carb... pull the idle screws and spray some cleaner in... just make sure u count the turns IN before u remove them.

Well I do have a demon 750 carb mechanical I wonder if it is even working properly with aupll the bad things I've heard. I jus figured that it might be ok sense im able to drive the car but it just seems to idle fine when it wants I do have a 1 inch spacer.
Would you have another Distributor to swap to find out if that's the problem? I had a '60 Z28 that I built, put in a new Mallory Unilite( Ok-I know now!), and the thing gave me fits-put in a used HEI, and voila'! Fixed-
Are you still using a ballast resistor power feed to the coil? the dist needs full 12V+ power source at all times and not the limited voltage of a resistor system.

No I don't I do have 12 volts idont know the part number it is a smc billet dist from pertronix.
