im in the market for a new H.E.I. distributor to go on my small block chev. its a warmed up 283 (intake, 4-barrel, mild cam, headers, etc.) and i was wondering what you guys recommend. i currently have a hypertech cap and rotor assembly along with some nice aurora wiresthat i can put on the new dis. so iw as thinking of buying a stock one and adding these parts. i shift this motor at around 6500 rpm occasionaly and want something that can keep up. will the stock one get the job done? this isnt a race motor or anything but performance is important to me and i do want a quality product but price is also an issue. what do you guys recommend for the best one for the price?
I asked this same question a month or so ago, I am also getting a new distributor for my mild 283. Based on the answers I got I've decided on a MSD 8360. It has a vacuum advance and is fully adjustable (vacuum and mechanical)...
I was happy with my MSD distributor however I am sure Killer has had a lot more experience with various companies and their products than I have.
Either way I think you'll be happy but perhaps you should give Mallory a call as well.
