Distributor
 

Hey all,

I have a newly rebuilt ford 460. It has a Proform distributor with the magnetic pick-up--not points. There are 3 wires coming out of distributor...black, blue and red. My question....do I need to have an ignition box to run this or can I just wire it to the coil. I'm thinking black (ground), blue to (-)side of coil and red to (+)side of coil???

Thanks for the responses. Believe it or not, I called Proform directly and their tech support could NOT tell me what the wires were coming out of the distributor...as far as which is positive and which is negative. Again, I have a ford 460 with a proform distributor with the magnetic pick-up inside. ( their is no coil or any module on the cap. Does anyone know about this distributor? It has 3 wires coming out of it: RED, BLUE, AND BLACK.

Unless your distributor has points in it,you will need the proper ignition module.
