Distributor help...

I am trying to get my 302 running right in my 89 Mustang and I think my friend who was working on it for me put my distributor back in wrong.
I think what I'm supposed to do is to find TDC and make sure the metal part inside the distributor is pointing to the number 1 cylinder, Im just looking for some verification....anybody know?
Also, I didn't know if this post should go under "electrical" or "engine" so I am posting it both places...thanks....
