I have a rebuilt distributor I'm installing today for a 55 Chevy 235. It has a devise that screws into the housing that looks like it would hold grease or oil to lube the inside distributor components. Althought I can find many illustrations showing this devise..none actually say what it does. Anyone familiar with this?

Ya..actually the spring goes in the hole in the housing..then a fitting screws in
putting pressure on the spring..Lastly a cap screws onto the fitting.
Thanks,
Keith
