Distributor selection for my old truck

Hello all, I need a little help in selecting a distributor or ignition for my old 50 chevy pick-up. It currently has a 350 in it with an HEI distributor. I like the one wire hook-up and it runs fine, but I have a firewall clearance problem. My plug wires are touching my firewall and will not allow me to fully rotate my distributor. I have researched old threads and looked in the knowledge base and I am no closer on deciding which route to take. 1. Do a little metal work on the firewall. 2. Go to an MSD ready to run, with an external coil, $400 bucks, and will that give me the clearance I need ? (Don't know) 3. I could slap a module in an old points dist. put a coil on it and screw up a new $85 set of MSD plug wires. My question is what has others done to solve this type of problem and if I go the MSD "ready to run" route where or how will I have to rewire my current system? I hope I have not confused everyone, and thanks in advance for your input and help.

Doc here,

There are TONS of small body HEI's out there..Here is MSD..

MSD SMALL-BODY

This one requires a Coil, (external) and an MSD 6 series brainbox..Easy to do yourself and fairly Reliable.

Do a Goggle Search for Small Body HEI and see what is out there.
