Do all car guys suffer from ADD?

My wife is always accusing me of being ADD. But now I realized it's a good thing because the only reason I get so much done on my hobby car is because I'm constantly doing two things at once, like going to the garage and checking the fit of something while we're watching Dancing with the Stars (sorry, but the girls are so hot). I bet it's much harder to make progress on your car if you're not ADD. If the only time I worked on my car was completely free time I'd never get anything done.

I`m not sure if it`s ADD or OCD, also known as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It maybe both. For the record, I had ADD growing up, I didn`t know it until about 5 years ago when I was speaking to my doctor and she asked me what I was like as child. I told her and it all matched ADD perfectly. I always knew I was different but I didn`t know why and in the 80`s they really didn`t know what ADD was so none of my teachers reconized it. I got lucky and I outgrew it, but I know many that didn`t unfortunately.

The guys I work with say I suffer from ADD and/or OCD. I have no problems with getting multiple things done, but while I am doing things, everything looks like a mess.

I wouldn't call it ADD, but to put it simply I'm not happy unless I have at least three things going on in my mind.

Currently I'm thinking about the clutch assembly I'm building for my truck, a custom turbo setup for a 6.5, and stressing over a court date my better half has coming up.

Blessing, and a curse. If it is good stuff your thinking about, it is great... Stressful matters, not so much. At the end of the day though it helps me to keep my eye on the ball, and get issues resolved.

Also pondering building a robot, turning my Honda ATC into a Fat Cat, and building a pole barn for my tractors, and my old Chebby.

The warden says I have a talking problem though. Sorry, I just like sharing my knowledge... Not my fault if you aren't interested in how to calculate turbo charger sizes, or the bolt torque patterns for cylinder heads...

i also have too many interests

so i kinda bounce around on what im playing with/working on (flavor of the week)

my friends will ask me about a project or toy, and will often have to say oh i shoved that out, and i'm now working on this

it gets very frustrating, but I always know that I will circle back around in 6-18 months, to whatever it was I shoved out/was working on

I don't know about ADD but I do have a few too many 'senior moments' for only being 36. The most common is walking to the toolbox and forgetting what tool I was there looking for. Usually only takes a few steps back towards the car for me to remember though.....My Dad is 60; he has to walk half way back before he remembers. Must be genetic.

Don`t feel bad Joe. I`m 37 and I do the same thing. There`s no telling how
many times I`ve walked into the shed, look at the tool box and say to myself "what I come down here for?"
