do i already have a posi??

ok..no a few days ago i was asking about what would get me better traction, IE: spool, posi, or mini spool. now i am a little confused on if i already have a posi. when i get on the freeway and if i get on it really hard in first then shift to second and about 4,500RPM the whole back end will come out. and if i get on it from a stop again the whole back end will swing out. but if i just power break it only one tire will spin. then the other day i was looking at a small burnout i did in front of my drive way and the passenger tire left a mark about 3 feet long and the driver side only left one about 1 foot long. i have never had a car with a non-posi swing out the rear. maybe its just me?? i would just take off the pumpkin cover and look but i honestly really dont want to do that. (been feeling lazy lately)

You need to remove the cover and see what is in there. You could have a posi with worn clutches, or you could have a standard differential that the pinion gears are welding themselves to the cross shaft. If it's the later then it might be getting ready to blow up on you.

If you jack it up and spin one wheel, if the other turns the same way it is posi if it turns the opposite way it is open. Many vehicles, especially ones with a light rear will spin both tires even with an open. My T-Bucket lights them both up and it is an open rear

It doesn't always work that way. I've seen many posi rear ends that wouldn't turn both wheels the same direction because the clutches were worn out. The Governor Lock will not turn both wheels the same direction until you spin one wheel fast enough that the governor kicks in. I've also seen some standard differentials that did turn both wheels the same way because the pinion gears had welded themselves to the cross shaft, or an axle tube was bent or for other reasons. The ONLY way to tell for sure is to remove the cover and look inside.
