do i have to cut hard fuel lines?

well, i took a look under my car to try to find a place to install an electric fuel pump but its all hard lines until about the middle of the car. Would that be ok to put it there? If not, do i have to cut the hard lines?

Usually the best place is as close to the tank (and lower than the tank) if possible. If I'm not mistaken, elec. fuel pumps (depending on what type you have) are better at pushing, than pullling. That's why you see pumps hanging down at the back of some modded cars. (Correct me if I'm wrong, guys. )

Nope, you're right, and the gas cools the pump.

Please use caution while working with fuel lines. Three years ago last month a good friend of mine died after suffering 3rd degree burns over 70% of his body. He was under his truck installing a fuel pump, spark, and a family changed forever.

Yep, cut the hard lines and use a short piece of flexible fuel line to connect on each side of the pump. This will help to dampen vibes from the pump into the floor pan of the car. Also, mount the pump to a large block of rubber, then mount the rubber to the car. I have used muffler hanger material in the past with good success. It's the black rubber that looks like it was cut from a truck tire, with the white cord in it. Having to put up with the drone of a pump while driving will make you want to put a gun to your head after a while.

Install a filter back there while you're at it. Some manufacturers say to put the filter between the tank and the pump. Others say to put the filter between the pump and the motor. Who knows? Just put a filter back there.

Suffered 2nd degree burns and hanging flesh on my arm when my nylon work suit caught fire from a hot nugget from the cutting torch. I was on my back up under the truck with little room to move, but managed to get out and extinguish the flame before I was burned alive. Fire is nothing to mess with.

As a technical inspector at the dragstrip, that is my biggest fear, that a driver will burn up. I cannot think of a more horrible way to die.
