Do you remove masking tape in between coats?

Do you remove between primer-base coat, and base-coat clear coat?

I would remove it between the primer and base, but not between the base and clear. You normally wet sand the primer before applying the base, so that would get real messy if the tape was still on.

I do the same as vince. 99.9 percent of the time I remove it and retape and mask after primer before base. I normally wash the car after all bodywork and priming, sanding is done. Plus not unmasking after primer could make for a dirty paint job and primer may not get covered with color in jambs ect if you don't mask or roll back tape further. You should if you want a good job, although many production places don't retape, just dry sand blow it down. I don't remask between base and clear other then retaping something that may have gotten ruined after wetsanding a f up in the base.
