Do you think this is a good idea?

ok over the last couple weeks i have been thinking of talking my dad into start buying late model cars with good bodies that need mechanical work.
i think it would be a good opportunity to make some cash quick. i know quite a bit about cars i have helped install probabaly 5 engines and have done various other jobs to cars. so i think i can handle that end if you were wondering, and if i cant figure it out my dads a good mechanic and well know in our area for it. but i was just wondering if you all think it would be worth while to start doing this in my spare time to make some cash.

A few guys I work with do that.Buy the cars from the DAV Auction, fix them and sell them. Some cars may not move too quickly, and cars with electrical problems can easily add up to alot more in troubleshooting and repairing. But they will still sell eventually. Do you have an auction close by? That is where the most cars would be that dealers do not want to mess with.
A scenerio for you.Say you have a 1999 Taurus, the water pump is going out,and sometimes the fuel pump will die on you, causing the car to stall. You take it to your local Ford,Chevy,Toyota dealer and trade it in for $5000.00 towards a new or used car from them. They will not invest the man hours in fixing that car, they will wholesale it at the auction where it is bought for a few bucks buy someone with the ideas you have or a Buy-Here-Pay-Here dealer. There are cars to be had,and the guy I work with does make a profit off of them.Consider how much it is to buy, then try and pre-determine what the problem may be,add up what that will cost you,and if you can make it back, plus some when you sell it.Good luck with it.
