I think I finally figured out why I miss him.

Not to get to personable but my old man was a $#!T . Still is.

& my Grandparents passed before I could know them.

He was like the Dad / Grand Dad we{ I } all wanted but never really had.

So damn funny
Intelligent & not conceited or self centered.

And always right.

I can't help but remember him ,How he helped with my electrical problems ,when I look under my hood, or my electrical stuff.

{& see all the spaghetti I still need to fix!}

Its real hard to find someone that most everyone likes & respects now a days.

So I think of him often.

Yep sometimes we don't know what we have until it is gone. If he is missed here so much, can you imagine how his family feels?

not wanting to come across as selfish or insensitive, does his family consist of auto enthusiasts like us? Perhaps his knowledge and skills dealing with this hobby of ours isn't missed by his family very much, but I'm sure his presence is. He was a good guy, and gave me a thorough explanation of tachometer wiring once. Perhaps that thread is still around here, somewhere.

Like a good solid classic car gone to the crusher (or demo derby), they either rot (nursing home) or are taken from us (going to The Better Place some other way, missing the jello and pills and applesauce found at senior living places like the one I work at).

edit: His passing, and this thread, and his memorial thread, should not be a mourning of his passing, I think he'd rather have it be a celebration of his contributions to us as a community, both HR.com and all hotrodders in general, and at a personal level. Even though his tach wiring explanation wasn't exactly personal, it still meant a lot to me since he was (is) the most highly respected member here outside of Jon. Therefore, I propose we either do an honorary burnout (in a safe and legal place of course) or tackle a wiring project with help from a thread he contributed to during his time here on Earth.

At least we have OldRed (kinda like Doc, but with tools and air compressors rather than the spider web known as automotive wiring), and other old timers still here. Learn what you can from them, learn on your own, and someday you'll be a respected old timer. I have a long long time before I get there, but it'll be me, someday.

edit: Doc likes these smileys...

In a New York Minute everything can change .

Never miss a opportunity to do what you love to do.

Doc's brother let us know what had happen to Doc .

Doc avoided talking about himself like true men of his generation. very few knew of his illness that plagued him for many ,many years.

If he had No Blood family .

He Has here.

i sure felt bad coming back and seeing he was gone.

but hey, he's talking with all the greats who have passed before him! teaching them a thing or two...

idk if anyone's noticed, but if you hover over the pimp with your mouse, it says 'doc'... thats pretty cool...

Rob Here

They changed the "pimp" smiley to "Doc" shortly after he passed in tribute to the man.

I think Schnitz suggested it.
