A Dodge 383
Hello, I just got ahold of a dodge 383 that I want to put in my 1970 dodge dart. I'm looking for advice on how best to build it as an engine for occasional track use and all around hotrod. I'd appreciate an advice I could get. Thanks

The 383 is a pretty potent engine even in stock form especially in a light body like your Dart.
If it was me, I would rebuild the motor using Mopar Performance parts and a "Purple" camshaft along with a dual plane MP manifold and a good set of headers. That combo will be very streetable and pretty quick on the strip. If you're running a manual trans you can go a little hotter on the cam but keep in mind the most prevalent mistake most people make is over camming an engine. You can also go to Moparts on the Web for additional info. You can also try the Big Block Dart website . Good luck. Last edited by Centerline; 09-03-2006 at 12:51 PM. |
