It's time for my 1978 Dodge 440-3 motorhome heads to be rebuilt. The only difference I know of is the coolant passages. RV heads have a "figure 8" shape, while the standard has a circular shape. I don't want to use the heads off my RV because of several stripped header thread holes and a broken "ear" or valve cover screw hole. I pulled the heads off a same year 1-ton van that has the same casting number,"452's". Can I use these? Besides the coolant passages, are they the same? Is the different passages enough reason NOT to use them?
hedman sells headers for the 440 but then says will not fit the 440-3 motor.
so does anybody know what the diffrence is?
must be exhaust port sizes? header bolt pattern?
just don't know and I'm looking for headers to work on my 440-3 motor it is in a 1974 dodge motorhome that i'm adding some performanc stuff to to get more power for comfort and later for towing
