I am building a magnum 360 motor for the car and want an OD trans that will bolt right up. I like the ratios in the A500/42RE/RH trans (2.74,1.54,1.00,0.69) and am wondering if this will bolt up to my magnum block.
I will handle lockup with a conversion kit from PACT for $85 and get a good locking torque converter.
Anyone have any knowledge or experience with these transmissions and the swap in question?
The PACT website gives all the info you are looking for. I would opt to go with the 518 trans. It is a 727 with overdrive and uses a 2 wire connector for the over drive. You want a trans from 95 and back as 96 were electronic controlled for all gears as well as overdrive and lockup.
I would not run a 42RE as it is fully electronic and its very lightweight as far as strength, like v-6 dakota lightweight. Go with the 518 if it will fit the tunnel. The 500 would be a good second choice. just went throught his on a buddys dakota 360 magnum build ,he is not sure either as the tunnel in the dakota will need cut to accomodate the 518.
