dodge truck question......

wow, i have not been on here in ages, haha. once again, i find myself hunting for some realiable info for something OTHER than my buick (what else is new )

so, to get to the point, im looking to buy an 88 dodge 2500 "sno commander" pickup, nice red & silver, red cap, LE interior, has a plow & new tires, & low miles.
the truck is has a 360 with a throttle body, auto trans, disc brake front end, manuel locking hubs, dana 60 rear & dana 44 front end..... and its WAY cheep

only problem is that the drivers side front axle in the dana 44 is destroyed, compleatly demolished.... and i have only been able to track down a front drivers side axle with the drum brake setup on it, while the truck has discs!

my question is: would the drim brake axle be the same as the disc brake axle? i would really like to have this thing togeather enuff to plow with by winter....

-OR- does anyone know where i could buy a new axle for cheep, or anywhere i could purchase a used one in NEPA or north jersy?

thanks for any help, let me know if any more info is needed

Most of the time the drum brake outer stubs won't work in a disc brake set up. Is the tag still on the front cover bolts? If the tag is gone, the same number will be stamped on the drivers side axle tube. Its a 6 digit number that starts with a 6. If you give me that number I can give you the part number you need to look for.

Is it a disconnect axle with the shift fork on the RH side axle tube?

If it's a NON disconnect axle and I take a educated guess, the axle assy would be:

Complete assy part# Spicer 71628-2x. Thats inner axle, outer axle and U-Joint.

Inner axle alone is,Spicer# 27902-12X and is 36.78 in length, center of cap hole to end of axle.

Ouer stub axle,Spicer# 620200. 9.72 in length, center of cap hole to end of axle.

U-Joint Part# 5-760X.

If it's a Disconnect axle the axle assy# is: 73578-2X

Inner axle is the Spicer 73579-2X and is 18.32 center of cap hole to the end.

Outer stub is the same 620200

U-joint is the same 5-760X

To be 100% certain I really need the assy number off your housing,or the measurements off your axles, as there is 2 or 3 different option's in that year of truck.
