does a 70-71 camaro nose fit an 81?
i want to change my nose to a 70-73 nose style and was wondering if that was doable with keeping my front fenders and hood

IIRC, the hoods exchange, fenders should be the same too, might be some differences in the radiator support between the two and the inner bracing mounting and such.
Inner wheel wells same also I believe. |

Looked at doing this to my '81 years ago, never got any further than trading for the nose, grill and bumpers from a '73 RS.
But when I got an offer that was outrageous for the parts, I bailed on the project. I wouldn't do it w/o the small 2-piece bumpers and a standard grill/nose, though. The RS piece is a PITA to refinish/repair, IMHO. Just don't hit anything with that kind of set-up! ![]() I actually like the '78-'81 front ends. I still have a mint bumper cover nose from an '80. |

I'll be damned, the door handles are different. It won't make the door not fit, but that is interesting. I can just see all the guys out there that didn't catch that and put one wrong door on.
That is of course if the door is different too, are they different or just the handle?Brian |

It's amazing how many minor variances were made from year to year back then. You really have to be careful when scrounging parts, or even buying aftermarket repro stuff. |

Check out this website. It's loaded with pictures and step by step to convert from an 81' to a 70'.

One thing I can't seem to fall in love with is the installation of bumperettes on a non RS front end. If you don't put on the full bumper I think it looks wrong without the RS grille extension. I haven't seen one yet that looks right without it. JMO
