I went to their web page ... http://showmerodandcustom.com/

I do not see a 33 roadster offered ... their 33 coupe looks decent ... from the photos ...

But like a LOT of fiberglass bodies ... no chrome windshield frame

[QUOTE=RodFather]
Vince,
You're running a Rootlieb hood right? How well did that fit?
[QUOTE]

The hood will fit differently on whatever body you choose. My hood required shaving off the back portion of the side panels to make it match the body lines. It's not so much that the hood didn't fit, my body didn't fit the hood and you will find that is pretty much the case with glass cars.

Sorry Deuce I meant to say, "I saw their '32 roadster, and it looked good".

Ok, after looking at a ton of fiberglass '33s I found a Bebops '33 coupe through Yogi's. Yogi's does not have a picture up, and Bebops does not have a '33 coupe on their website. I believe Vince said he has seen a Bebops '33 at Nationals. Does anyone know more about the Bebops '33 coupe?

I think that is correct, I looked at so many cars at that show and talked to so many people. The car may have been a 32, but I know I looked at a 33/34 also. That one may have been an Outlaw body, it was equally nice.

Just to give everyone an update. I bought a '33 coupe body from Show Me Rod and Custom. They are the closest, and one of the nicer bodies I've seen. It has a lot of wood in it, and even comes with all the glass. I'll give an update when I get the car in 8 weeks.

Deuce do you think a windshield frame can be made to work on a fiberglass car?

My Gibbon 34 has a chrome windshield frame, it came with the body to the tune of quite a few $$$.

I know ...
Gibbons and a few others come with a metal windshield frame ... just none I am aware of in the price range of " Show me R & C ", " RussNomore " and other 33/34 coupe builders in the $6,500 to $8,500 range.

That's one of the reasons you do not see the a lot of the 33 - 34 bodies being reproduced with the windshield frames ... the $750 more is a deal buster for a number of potential buyers ...

They want cheap ...
To build a body with the windshield frames, door hinges, cowl vents and open tops ... takes more time and more money.

EDIT ...

This sounded a little harsh when I reread it ... and I do not mean it in a bad way ... Competitive pricing ... forces features to be eliminated ... and some things NOT offered ... to make a sale.

This Wescott 32 3W body has hinges, cowl vent, windshield frame and other options ... but it is over twice the price of RussNoMore or a Show Me R&C body ...

I have a friend who started with the NICEST original 33 Ford 3W coupe body anyone could ever hope for ... He is a body man and wanted a smooth, slick car ( this was 15 years ago or so ) ...
He filled the cowl vent and the roof. He chopped the car 3 inches or so. He made and installed hidden hinges ... he was one of the first to use a S-10 windshield rubber and glued in the windshield. He installed a smooth 3 piece Rootlieb hood ... He has painted smooth running boards, he removed the bumpers hole bumps in the splash pan on the rear and smoothed all the attaching bolts. He has a remote hang down license tag, He used a small set of headlights and Billet slot tail lights ... He bought a aluminum Jim Wench grille. He painted it Porsche Red ... He ended up with a very nice coupe ... but he still gets asked ... " Whose fiberglass body is it ?? "

It really upsets him ... but it looks like a fiberglass car to almost everyone who sees it. I thought he was going to blow a gasket when this older gentlemen told him that " he must have worked his behind off to take a steel car and make it look like a plastic car ... "

If you want a smooth ... 3W ... I am sure the glued in windshield and fiberglass look will make you happy ... And that's good ...

No everyone should want to same thing ... variety is a spice
