Does anyone have a Russ Nomore '33?

I'm looking at buying a 1933 coupe from Russ Nomore Streetrods. The chop is different than any other body on the market (A pillars slant). If I don't like the chop on a finished car I'll do a Rat's Glass.

Does anyone have a picture of a finished car with the Russ Nomore body?

Wouldn't they have one?

I went to their website http://www.russnomorestreetrods.com/aboutus.htm

And no finished 33 coupes were shown ... ;) The price listed was $6,450

The top is laid back too much and the windshield opening is a little FUNNY to me ... just my opinion. I like the Windsor body ... for the same $$$ ...

http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c...e_1981_9121575

But then ... I like door hinges, detail lines on the firewall and a little less chop.

The best fiberglass coupe body on the market today ... IMHO is the Wescott

http://www.wescottsauto.com/body-pho...e-stock-00.jpg

But unfortunately Wescott is the most expensive and they do not make the 33 - 34 coupe bodies

RodFather 12-20-2007 09:10 PM

I called them, and they said their computer crashed so they didn't have any finished pictures. The body is in my price range, but the Wescott is not. Also, Russ No More is about 300 miles from me.

The windshield looks a little weird where the glass inserts. That's my only concern.

Deuce 12-20-2007 09:47 PM

I did a search on the web and found no Russ Nomore 33's
There site had finished 32's and such. The price range of a Wescott is not even a issue ... because they do not make a 33 - 34 Ford.

Because they are within 300 miles of you, looks like someone in your area would have a 33 ... maybe Russ Nomore has a satisfied customer reference list ??

RodFather 12-21-2007 09:08 AM

I'll see if they can give me a reference. I've ran into the same issue. In the sea of '32s and '33s I can't find a picture of a finished car. As you see in the picture there is a line above the windshield...is that normal on 33's?

Deuce 12-21-2007 10:20 AM

Here is a 3W chopped about the same amount as a Russ Nomore ...

http://www.carnut.com/show/01/pbo/nat109.jpg

No funky line ...

I strongly suggest you sit in ... ride or drive a 3W before you spend your $$$ ... on a coupe body that is chopped that much. I OWN ... this original 32 3W body.

http://hotrodders.com/journal_photos...1935418821.jpg

As you can see ... it is not chopped. ;)
With the 32 ... visibility is OK ... but with a small, short windshield like in the 33 shown above ... not so much. I am 6 foot and 2 inches tall ... and overweight also. So room can also be a issue.

There is NO ARGUMENT ... that the chopped and channeled coupes scream HOT ROD ... But sometimes they are a little difficult to drive long distances ... especially if you are over 6 foot tall

Guess he's No-More???? Oops, soory, couldn't help myself.

Vince built a '34, that thread might be helpful.

Bad Rat has a wicked '33, you could PM him too.

Check project33.com too. The site's not responding right now, but try. There a lot of good info there too.

Sorry I couldn't help with Russ Nomore though

I'd be very emphatic responding to THAT bogus sounding excuse. No finished pictures...no finished money. I know aboslutely NOTHING about Russ Nomore. But I do know a bit about good business practices. And if the only pictures of one of my products in a finished conditon somehow got "ate by the dog"...I should probably think about a different line of work. Sounds to me like they aren't showing that one off.

Thanks for the input guys. I am still searching for the body I want. I'll probably get my deposit put in somewhere in the next two weeks. I think the Rats Glass bodies are looking good. I can't stand the speedstars, but they have a good looking '33.

The Russ Nomore coupe will not accept the chrome/stainless windshield trim because of the chop.

On another note, here's a picture on my '40 chevy that I just sold.

I have a '32 Russ No More fiberglass body... I'm dissappointed. The hood did not fit the body lines. The doors don't fit. The hinges on the trunk are weak. I had to spend $4K to make it right.
Good luck on your choice.

http://www.hotrodders.com/gallery/da...m/DSC00362.JPG Outlaw and Redneck also make a 33-34 that is a pretty decent body. Deuce is right on about the radical chop in a 33-34. Mine is 2" and I cannot fathom any more. It would be uncomfortable to drive. The wife and I are smallish people and our coupe is just about right for us.

I suggest you talk to Pete & Jakes ... in Peculiar MO. http://www.peteandjakes.com/history.htm Peculiar should not be all that far from you. They have been in the business for a long time. At one time ... they sold a body/chassis package. They still may ... Or they could suggest a good body supplier.

Another avenue is to look around and buy a unfinished project. 33 - 34 Fords are a popular model and sometimes great deals can be found. Folks buy a start ... and then things change. Finances changes, DIVORCE happens and sometimes ... the would be rodder finds out that this rod building is not as easy as take part A, insert part B , glue part C and then ride like the sales brochure or the magazine said. ;)

RodFather 12-22-2007 09:41 AM

Thanks Cares that will definitely help me in my decision.

Vince,
You're running a Rootlieb hood right? How well did that fit?

Switching directions a little bit has anyone had any experience with the Show Me Rod and Custom '33s? They are about an hour from me, and their roadster's looked really good.

RodFather 12-22-2007 09:42 AM

If anyone happens to see a '33 project on the internet that is for sale let me know. I've been watching like a hawk, but so far I'm empty handed.
