Does direction of residual valve matter?

I know why residual valves are needed and all of that but in my searching I haven't found an answer to this question.

Does it matter which way the residual valve is turned?

Thanks,
Brandon

yes it does, the valve is designed to flow in one direction only. they are always marked for flow.
