When you are watching some movie - particularly newer movies - and someone's got a nice ride or a muscle car, and then they drive it into a lake or off a cliff or something?

Why must they do that? Even Tim Allen, who I would expect to have a little more reverence, went and smashed that Nomad.

When they wreck the cars in the old movies, that's no big deal, because that's what was available at the time, but I saw some show the other day where they drove a GTO into a lake. It's just senseless.

So here's the plan: We (yes, you, me, and all the other members of this message board) are going to assemble a group much like PETA. It's going to be called PETOCc, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Classic Cars. I will be the lead man if you all like, or we could elect somebody else. So long as the mission is accolmplished.

Think about it....here PETA has created such a huge level of awareness about animals, which are a renewable commodity, while every Nomad that gets a huge steel girder dropped on it is one more unreplaceable piece of history and one more step toward the extintion of a species.

So let's get out there and make some noise. We may have to bomb some movie studios, and do some hunger strikes, but the cause justifies the means!

I know what you mean. Just saw the preview for Talladega nights with Will Ferrell and they crashed a 68 or 69 chevelle. It should be rated PG for that type of behavior.

This sort of thing should be BANNED. Not just frowned upon or given an R rating. Get your torches and shovels and pitchforks, we're heading down to MGM. After that Universal, and so on...

I don't believe the "Nomad" was actually destroyed on the show, it was a wagon that was actually smashed as I remember.

If I remember correctly it was a Red '55 Nomad model. No harm done. If it were the real thing, I would say hang'um.

It was a regular wagon...when the beam hit, you could still see the square door frames stcking up................still a shame. Hey the Hollywood types are generally "Uber-Liberals".....they want all the old relics off the road, replaced by alternative fuel cars.

I think that the owner of a car should be able to treat it like they want, whether it means tubbing the car or running it off a cliff. Those that want to save the old cars should buy them all up and keep them in their garages.

No it doesn't bother me when I see cars wrecked in a show. Why because I know that the studios are on a strict budget and any vehicle that is wrecked is usually from a junk yard. It is given a quick paint job to look like the pristine example used for most of the show. Now with computer animation they can take a scan of the car and make it look like it can do anything. Have you seen Star Wars? Do they go out and buy space ships to be blown out of the sky? What about Back to the Future? Did you really think that car could fly? I think your club is doomed.

You guys are way too serious. Yeah, it bugs me to see that stuff, but I was kidding about the pitchforks and the studio bombings. Next time, I'll be more clear when I'm not really serious.

By the way...

It really bugged me when they crashed that sweet Naboo Starfighter in Episode I. You know, that yellow one? Those guys have no respect.

It's not like you can take a regular Alliance A-wing and paint it up to look like a Naboo Starfighter either....that's just too much of a strecth. Yet Lucas runs it into a huge wall with no conscience.

CSI wrecked 2 nice Fieros, now these cars may not rate the same as a 55 but still caused a ruckus.
Fieros were built between 84 and 88, some of the parts you just cant find anymore.
Count me in, I say Super soakers filled with water paint. Spray down some new jags and see how they feel. Wouldnt want to do permanant damage just SHOCK them.
