does your car make others speed?

i noticed while driving the 27 chevy.
that when at a stoplight many times the person next to me will be somehow forced to rev the hell out of his/her engine and take off when it turns green. (it doesnt matter what kind of car that person is in).
usually a pickup truck but even soccer moms will become possesed with this temporary madness.
it doesnt happen when i am in my other cars.
does this happen to you?

With my 28 Coupe everyone wanted to race but, I just let them make arses of themselves.

With the 36 Sedan, they all want to ride in my blind spot. My wife says they are just looking at the car.

I don't care what they're doing there....GET OUT OF MY BLIND SPOT !!!

Yes!!! Every time I'm on the road in the Vet some one tries to challenge me or tries to get me to show what it can do! If I didn't have the scoop on the hood or the side dump headers or the loud exhaust or the lumpy cam and it didn't idle at 2500 rpm and the big tires were changed for stock ones they would probably leave me alone!!!!!! But whats the fun in that !!

The guys with the true fast cars don't have to prove it! its the slugs always gunning the engines or doing burn outs leaving the single black mark on the pavement like a slugs slime trail!!! I cant get that through my wifes head though when someone challenges when shes driving She takes em on LOL

Thats a no no not on the street (this will probably be dumped if it is Im sorry)

Jester

Blind spot drivers drive me nuts too especially in the Vet!!!!

i get it all the time in the twin turbo camaro, mostly ricers and mustang drivers though .

i have found out leaving the parachute on the back when street driving just about stops anyone form trying to get me to race.

i did have one state trooper in a hide a cop car ( new mustang) try to get me to go for about 3-4 mile down the highway before he finally just took off.

couldnt tell if he was just trying to see how fast the car was or he was trying to trick me into speeding so he could give me a ticket *shrug either way im not stupid enough to fall for it/ my gf on the other hand prolly would have went for it

I haven't too much of that problem with my '31 roadster - yet, but way back when I had a '23 'bucket, it seemed everyone wanted to do the stop light grand prix - and like others said, mostly ricers and moms econoboxes. I usually just let them have their kicks, but had been known to ..... nah, I can't say that here

I try to instigate people to do that lol. I have this ugly 95 Dakota V6 with a straight pipe and it sounds pretty nasty and I mean that in a bad way. Nastiest sounding vehicle with a straight I've ever had lol. anyways, a slight blip of the throttle is usually all it takes....but it also works very well whenever some moron with a sub woofer pulls up next to me and vibrates everything in my truck. A couple of hard raps on the throttle usually makes them shut up.

That's funny, my Rambler never makes people want to race.

All I get is people cranking their neck to read the fender emblem.

I get it all the time in the '35 Dodge. People speeding up to get beside me for a look. And at red lights they haven't tried to egg me on, just give the thumbs up as I cruise on down the road

Seems the '71 427 Camaro draws that reaction, as I get guys showing off next to me often. Just the opposite on the '46 Austin gasser. They never bother to do anything.

Had a real nice 70 383 Challenger up until a few years ago and very few ever bothered me with that one but when they did, they made total pests of themselves. One guy went to far and tried to give me a push when we were running 65 down the freeway one night. I had waved him off several times but when he got so close to my rear bumper that I couldn't see his head lights, he got waved off by a .357! He got the message real fast that time and spun his car out when he hit his brakes. Traffic was very light so I (he) didn't create a danger for others. Never saw that dumb jerk again thankfully and yes, I was about to blow my back window out on that mess. He reacted real fast. I guess the stainless Smith and Wesson sparkled in the night enough for him to see it and I didn't have to replace any glass

Being an ex combat Marine: I like fire arms! My wife and I are pin shooters (speed and accuracy). and love to shoot I use a 44 mag and my wife uses a 357! But we never took weapons on runs or cruises! That would never enter our minds let alone discharge our guns to scare a pesky driver off!!!! driving 65 down the road!!! Ide rather hear about street racing then about irresponsible firearm use!!! It would have been safer to slow down and let him go by or pull over and take a couple of minutes to cool your road rage !!!!

Jester
