doing a chop top on a 53 bel air 2 door post

hey going to do a 4 inch chop on my car I have an idea which I think is what has to be done just seeing if there is anyone that has experience with the 53 model I plan on keeping the original back window I was thinking of sinking it so I wont have to cut it, also thinking of slanting the post. I have done a few chops but i want to be sure before I put a knive to it I dont want a convertible. pics would help alot im a visual person!

First off, you should post this in the body forum.

Personally I don't like the sinking the window in at all. Laying it down or swapping to another window makes a lot more sense to me. I have never done one of those cars but have seen many over the years and laying down or swapping the glass looks and works much better.

There have been soooo many of those done over the years, study them.

One of the best ever was done by a guy in Salinas California by the name of Cole Foster at "Salinas Boyz". The guy is an artist, a friggin artist I believe he truely could "polish a turd".

Here is an article on the car.

Here is a thread on the Jalopy Journal site on the subject of the back glass.

I am not saying THIS is how you should chop your car. I mostly show you this to get you thinking about looking around at all the thousands of these 53-54 cars that have been chopped over the years. There is a wealth of info out there on them, look around a little.

This is just one site that has a list of these cars, a number chopped, and all chopped differently.
