Don't Laugh - Yet

At age 50+ I'm starting on my first hot rod build. My first car build of any kind, actually. I have a Downs 33 Ford Coupe body and all show drop-axle rolling frame being built, and it will be delivered this month. A hot rod buddy of mine has donated a good pre-86 350 block, and I've come into a set of new aluminum Edelbrock heads, pre-assembled with valves, springs, etc. The plan is to build the engine and car up over the next year or two for an occasional bad ***, tire chirping mild street driver. No racing.

I'd like to hear some opinions on the engine build... other than - get another hobby. If you were starting new, and wanted to build a reliable street 350... what would you put in it? I'm going with carb(s) rather than injection for my first try at this, but haven't narrowed it down to a particular setup yet.

Any expert suggestions on cams, lifters, intakes and carbs would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
