Door clearance with 4 post lift

I'm considering installing a 4 post lift so I can stack cars in my garage. The ceiling is about 12 feet high so I have plenty of clearance. But the door track is at about 8 feet. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you handle it? Can the track be modified to go closer to the ceiling before going horizontal?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Might contact a garage door service or the door manufacturer.
There are so many possibilities for this.
Some roll up doors go straight up-----not quite enough room for your 12' ceiling, but only the top panel would have to make a transition to horizontal.

Auto garage door opener might present an issue here, but hey, what's another challenge.

I know they have tracks for ceilings right at 7' and those are kinda kool looking (the way they work).

So---a taller ceiling should not be much a problem for the door people to help you figure out.

Yes they make door tracks to take the door higher into the building for more clearance. I considered that when building my shop, but decided to go with roll up doors instead.

A couple of options are available. One is to simply go straight up as far as you want and then do the sweeping 90* turn . You will end up with the same length of track, but some of your door will be vertical. The other option is to stow the door on an angle so you loose some height up next to the door wall, but you get more space as you get further from the opening.
