Door latch conversions

I have a 1953 Chevy 3100 pickup (stock). I would like to be able to retrofit the door latches & locks to have keyless locks and / or alarm system. I can't seem to find any in my searches, I only get "sorry, we don't carry that."

Someone must have some expewrience regarding old door latch mechanisms and how to upgrade them.

I sure hope so, anyway.

Thanks.

Art, I have the same truck and I will be switching to "Bear claw" latches. Now, there are a zillion sources for them in the street rod communitiy but I have gotten some from the Jeep dealer that really work well. They are from CJ7 hard top doors. They are as close to a bolt in as you could get. They will still require a LOT of fabrication work but less than your run of the mill "street rod" bear claws available from the vendors.

If you plan on running the stock outside handles, good luck. I do, and it is going to take some serious fab work to make it happen. If you want to "shave" the handles and not run them, you will save a lot of time.
