Door Lock Problem

My door locks on my Chevy 88 Blazer dont work and the only way in is by reaching through the little window and manualy unlocking the door. What all do i need to fix that? And my passenger door does not open from the outside nor will it even unlock automaticaly or manually, what is my problem there?

the clip that hold the rod to the handle might have broke.
I have also seen the ear on the handle brake.
Does it have power locks?

Somewhere along the past...someone has locked their doors and then someone else took a slim-jim type tool and either broke the plastic latch connector or possibly it just came out dued to wear.

You will have to remove the door panel to get to it and check to see which part is either broken or loose. The rod connects to the handle assy is easy to get at, just remove the two arm rest screws (#3 phillips head) and remove the handle (if equipped) with a tool called "window removel tool" (available at most auto parts stores - look in "help" section) Then remove the remaining clips around the door panel, while the window is down, lift up on the panel..
remove the plastic dust/wind wrapper where you want to locate the handle assy and while looking in with a flashlight locate the linkage ends, check to make sure they are connected, if not connect it and put everything back together as you took it apart in the reverse order.

If your windows doesn't move down or up, the gear is stripped or bent. If electrical switch, remove it by gently prying up at the rear and sliding the electrical panel foward and with a small hook, locate the plastic tabs on the ends and sides. Pry up gently as they are easy to break and are not repairable...except by replacement...some are heat soaked and will break anyway no matter how easy you are.

The electrical rockers can be brought at any auto parts store, usual price is around 20.00 each or a junker/donor for little or nothing.

Removel is by useing two small screwdrivers ar each end and at the same time, pressing in on both..push out the connector. It goes in one way and goes on the same. Remove an replace. Don't clean the grease off of it, its there to protect the connection from mosture and insures a good connection.

Check the linkage and handle assy to make sure connector rods are connected and not broken.
