Door opening solenoids

I have a buddy that has a 48 Dodge and he wants to shave the door handles and have therm open with solenoids , he bought a kit but it has only a module , the solenoids are extra . Is there any lock solenoids from a production vehicle that would work ? I suggested early 90's GM truck locks solenoids , they seem strong . Has anyone ever used from a production vehicle?

You can use the later truck lock solenoids, only if you are using the Hot rod type "Bear claw" etc. door locks.

The old 40's stuff will require a large solenoid like fron older truck starters. Or an old 6-volt running on 12. They will really make a "THUMP" when they release those old time door lock mechs....

Thanks , I should have mentioned that he is using the latch assemblies from 2004-5 Freightliner doors , nice and thin and real smooth too .
