door stops

I am missing the door stops (to stop the door from opening too wide and bending hinges)on my 51 chev 2 door. I have no idea what to make for them. I have not been able to find them in any antque or rodder site.Need some ideas on this. I am a accomplished fabricator. Thanks...

Door stop

Is there a vertical roller in the door post? I've had a 51 four door and a 50 two door over the years. I think they had a roller bearing mounted vertically in the door post and a 1-inch wide bar with a U-shaped end attached to the door. If the roller is there, you might be able to fab the stop from some 1/8 flat stock.

51 chevy, are you missing all of the mounting hardware or just the strap? I can send some pics of the mounts in the door jamb and the door, however I'm missing the strap piece as well. (I think it's called the check link??) I'll also take a look at my shop manual and see if it has a picture/description of it when I get home tonight.

Might try your local big truck wrecking yard. A lot of the newer semi truck doors used a similar stop.
