The door wont open!!

This applies to a 2001 Astro Van.

Recently the door handle broke on the outside. I replaced that fairly easy.

But in order to get to the bolts on the inside of the door, I had to take the latch off temporarily. I got everything back on and in working order (so I thought). I closed the door, and now it wont open from the inside or outside, kind of like it is locked.

Is there anything I can do to pop open the door?

it sounds like you are going to need to get to the inside of the door to get it to release and then fix it.....

van seats come out pretty easy, I'd do that to make more room to remove the door interior panel

the "basics" of removing the interior panel to get to the door's operating "guts" are:

usually, the windows buttons assembly is just a "snap" in and will come loose with just gentle prying...one end has just a locating tab, the other end has the "snap into place and hold"

remove the screw behind the door opening handle and 2 more just below the the hand grip area you use to close the door...maybe another up near the mirror

the rest of the panel is held by about 12 nylon "push pins" spaced around the panel which will come out with GENTLE persistant repeated prying with a putty knife (or go to your local parts store and buy a $5(?) push pin removal tool)....

then wiggle and lift up on the whole panel so it releases from the window ledge

Don't be in a hurry and don't "force" anything...it is easy to break/tear/destroy a door interior panel

If you don't want to go all the trouble removing the door panel, call a lock smith. He has a tool that can reach down between the window and door and un latch it. Should cost about $40.
