doors

Has any body made any hinge type doors for their garage and has any help, plans, or suggestions?

What are you wanting to do? New garage or old? Replacing existing doors or new? What type of construction? Etc.

Have you considered sliders? I have a 12 X 12 door and made 2 6 X 12 sliders. 1" steel frame then 5V galvanized tin skin (it matches the rest of the galvanized shed). The tracks & rollers I got from ACE hardware - my local ACE guy did me right on the price. Its not a thing they stock, but can order. I added some rubber insulation & the doors cost under $250 complete. Been up for 6 yrs & I lubed them with liquid graphite once - s m o o t h.

I think you would want to use big hinges something like these



I guess these are available in hardware stores in the US as well. I'd build the door the same way the door you see in the pic is built. If your garage is on flat ground you might consider using a small wheel on the bottom of the doors so that the hinges do not have to support all the weight, even though this should not be necessary if the hinges and the garage walls are up to the job.
