Both are just slang terms for the little casting shapes(humps) on the fronts. They came in 461 and 462 casting #s there were others but I don't know the #s.

Make sure you check the casting #'s though because some heads from 305's had the double hump casting in the front but had the smaller valves.
The one that you are probably inquiring about have the 2.02 valves(most desirable).
If there isn't a difference between these heads then I am wrong and pretty happy about it.I have a set of the 2.02 valve heads and 2 sets that are on 2 motors that I haven't pulled off to look at.

Double humps as far as I know came from 63-67.The 305 didn't come about till around 1976 and also had 58cc chambers so the double humps couldn't have come on them.Double humps only came in 1.94/1.50 and 2.02/1.60 w/ 64cc chambers.

You could very well be right. The motor that I rebuilt last fall for my wagon was a 305 but it had Double Hump heads on it.They were the 1.94 valves though. I bought the motor from a guy that used to rebuild motors so he could have very well swapped heads when he was the owner.
There is also a set on the 350 that came out of my S10.Still have the motor but the truck is loooong gone. When I got the truck the motor was already in it. I won't go into that hacked-up mess. Also have a set a SBC Vortec heads and a set of 2.02 valved heads.
Getting alittle of topic I know...but everyone that I work with looks at me like "uh.....huh?"
So when I do get to talk HotRod I kinda get carried away.
